I am a seasoned, mature professional who loves teaching and learning. I have tutoring, teaching, and coaching experience with both children and adults. My experience with teaching children includes: 1. Being a mother and father to my 3 siblings, in the absence of father, and frequent absence of mother, from age 6-11 (As you might guess, this involved both teaching and learning at the same time!) 2. Mentoring two young girls from grade school to womanhood, via Big Brothers & Sisters and a local mentoring program 3. Teaching ESL to Latino children – grade school and middle school, as well as to adult refugees from other countries 4. Acting as a Court-Appointed Special Advocate for children caught up in the legal system (This gave me skills and understanding of kids struggling to learn while dealing with troubling challenges at home.) 5. Acted as a volunteer Program Director at a juvenile lock-down facility (jail) for troubled youth (This gave me skills in dealing with challenging kids, as well as creativity in teaching so as to reach them on their level.) In regard to teaching adults, I have many years of training, mentoring, and coaching experience, including 30 years of deep personal development coaching. (The coaching is not fluffy "life coaching," but deep coaching.) With adults, I also have a strong specialty in sales, human resources, and career/job search training. (The latter includes 30 years of cover letter and resume writing.) I have years of public speaking experience, and a passion for helping others with this skill. I was raised by two English major parents who were both active in the theater. My mother was a professional editor, (giving me excellent English grammar, punctuation, and editing skills.) I speak basic to intermediate Spanish, and hope to return to my once fluency. I enjoy teaching English as a second language. I have some basic Italian due to taking three semesters in college. I am seeking temporary, part-time work to augment my income due to a recent medical diagnosis taking my business of 22 years to the floor. I am available for in-person, online, and/or telephone tutoring. I have careers in human resources, marketing, and sales, and have been an entrepreneur of my business for 22 years.
